This course deals with a broad spectrum of filmmaking issues. Initially the course deals with camera work and composition techniques, followed by an intense introduction to non-linear editing with Final Cut Pro. An emphasis is placed on dramatic narrative filmmaking as well as student exposure to other forms such as documentaries, music videos, and Avant Garde cinema. Students will have opportunities to enter their short films into various festivals and competitions.

In the Broadcast Journalism course, students learn the basics of broadcast journalism, video journalist, and the technical skills required to produce news features and documentaries. Through their participation in the production of both live and taped news stories, students become actively engaged in all aspects of the creative and technical processes required to bring news, features, and special interest stories to the viewing audience. Ethical issues such as the protection of intellectual property and the roles and responsibilities of the various forms of media within society are explored. Broadcast Journalism students are required to use their creative and technical talents in the service and support of various groups, projects, and programs that are active within the school community.
